Is too much information distracting people from the essentials of driving? Are touch-screen menu-operated displays that control functions that in the past were simple button operated tasks now too complex and, quite frankly, annoying? How do readers feel about this overwhelming supply of information, and the necessity to frequently take your eyes off the road to make even simple adjustments, like heater and air conditioning settings? You can generally feel, and press or turn, a button, but you cannot feel an icon on a display screen! Windscreen mounted video dash cameras, and now rear window cameras? Useful, maybe, if you’re perhaps somewhat accident prone, but can they be serious distractions? I have no real problems with the principles involved in gathering potential accident evidence, if the items are hard-wired and tidily installed, but are our windscreens and dashboard areas, along with our brains, in danger of getting too cluttered?
