DieselCar Magazine is proud to announce the winners of the DieselCar Magazine, Car of the Year Awards 2014.
It’s been an exciting year for new model debuts, with our team of writers judging more than 200 new vehicles over the course of the past year. Voted on by a panel of well-respected writers and judges, the 2014 DieselCar Magazine awards name 28 finalists that have been whittled down to just ten award winners, with an overall winner announced as our 2014 Car of the Year. This year’s awards are in association with our sponsors, Evolution Chips, one of the country’s leading companies synonymous with diesel tuning. Announcing the winners of this year’s awards, Editor and Publisher, Ian Robertson, said “This year, there were several talented contenders that could quite easily have scooped the top award”. He went on to say “I am so pleased to be able to announce Nissan’s Qashqai as DieselCar Magazine’s Car of the Year 2014. Not only is it the leader in its segment, it was the creator, and deserves every single accolade that it is awarded”.
Peugeot’s RCZ wins the award of best sports car for the fifth year running, and Ford’s Fiesta grabs the gong for best small car – the fifth time the supermini has received the award over the past six years. Mitsubishi’s Outlander PHEV wins the title of best alternative fuel vehicle, beating both the Mercedes-Benz E-Class diesel hybrid and all-electric BMW i3 to the accolade, while the Range Rover Sport grabs the title of best 4×4 in this year’s awards. Skoda’s spacious Octavia wins the coveted award of best estate car. Citroën’s Grand C4 Picasso really impressed the DieselCar Magazine judges, grabbing the gong for best MPV, and Volkswagen’s Golf wins the title of best medium car for the second year running. And VW isn’t the only manufacturer winning an award for the second time, as BMW’s 3 Series again picks up the award for best large car. In the executive car segment, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is triumphant, beating the Jaguar XJ and a whole host of talented rivals, and not only is Nissan’s Qashqai crowned overall car of the year, but the Brit-built car ran away with class honours in the crossover section too.
The 2014 awards follow a management buy-out of DieselCar Magazine in January. The Motorworld Media team is headed up by Editor and Publisher, Ian Robertson, who has some exciting plans to develop the brand further. The awards issue of DieselCar Magazine goes on sale in all good newsagents on 8th May 2014.
