Vauxhall Mokka X set for Geneva

Vauxhall Mocca X 2Vauxhall’s new Mokka X is set to arrive in UK showrooms in late 2016, but first it will be seen at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The updated car will have an upgraded exterior and interior, and it will also be the first model to introduce the “X” segment identifier for future Vauxhall SUV and crossover vehicles.

The Mokka X’s new look is the result of work carried out by a team led by the British designer Mark Adam. Its new front look is aligned with Vauxhall’s new design philosophy including a wing-shaped horizontal front grille and the double-wing signature of the LED daytime running lights.  New colours such as ‘Amber Orange’ and ‘Lava Red’ will also be available. On the inside, the Mokka X has a completely new dashboard inspired by the new Astra.

While there is a new-generation 1.4-litre Direct Injection Turbo petrol unit, the 1.6-litre ‘Whisper Diesel’ engine introduced for the Mokka last year will be carried over to the new model.

Also new: an AFL LED system that adapts the headlights’ lighting patterns automatically to the driving situation so that the best possible light performance is given without dazzling other road users. This replaces the previous BiXenon AFL system

Vauxhall Mokka 3One important feature is that the new Mokka will be available with the personal connectivity and service assistant OnStar from launch.

OnStar offers customers a broad range of safety and comfort services. If an airbag deploys, OnStar will be alerted automatically. An advisor will then contact the vehicle to determine whether help is required. If there is no response, emergency responders are immediately sent to the exact location of the vehicle.

Drivers and passengers can reach OnStar 24/7 and 365 days a year. OnStar also turns the Mokka X into a 4G LTE mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Up to seven devices, from smartphones to tablets, can be connected simultaneously.

In addition, two versions of the new generation IntelliLink infotainment system will make their debut in the Mokka X. IntelliLink brings the world of smartphones to the car via both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone projection.

Vauxhall has already sold almost 100,000 Mokkas in the UK since this model was launched in 2012.
