Diesel Car – Issue 394 – November 2019

The subject of off-roaders, 4x4s and towing is a huge subject, and it’s the theme for the November 2019 issue of Diesel Car and Eco Car Magazine. James Fossdyke has been amongst the sand dunes in Morocco with the SEAT Tarraco and Phil Huff has proven that it isn’t just mums that go to Iceland, as he tackles the tricky terrain in Nissan’s updated Navara pick-up. In Reader’s Drives, there’s an interesting story of an engine swap in a Land Rover Series II, and we look at whether you should buy a car already fitted with a tow bar, or should you take a wide berth, choosing a car without and fitting an approved tow bar yourself. Game changing 4×4 and off-road technology is explored and there’s hints and tips on the subject of towing abroad.

The subject of off-roaders, 4x4s and towing is a huge subject, and it’s the theme for the November 2019 issue of Diesel Car and Eco Car Magazine. The cover of the November 2019 shows off the brand-new Land Rover Defender, and alongside it is all the news from the Frankfurt motor show, including the pure electric Volkswagen ID.3 and Porsche Taycan. There’s the first photographs of the facelifted Audi A5, the new Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Coupé and the baby Hyundai i10.

This month’s twin test sees two compact executive cars battle it out in the company car park, with the latest BMW 3 Series up against the facelifted Jaguar XE. We’ve also been driving the updated Vauxhall Astra, now exclusively powered by three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, as well as Kia’s XCeed, the Volkswagen Passat and the Volkswagen T-Cross, which has recently gained a diesel engine. In EcoCar, we’ve been behind the wheel of the Tesla Model 3, the Volvo S60 with T8 twin-engine plug-in hybrid technology, the Mazda CX-30 and Hyundai Kona Hybrid. Finally, Ford’s wild and wacky Ranger Raptor has been put through its paces, both on- and off-road.

This month’s used car buyer’s guide is all about the Infiniti Q30 and QX30 and we welcome Citroën’s C5 Aircross to the long-term fleet, but wave goodbye to the Audi A6 Avant and Mazda6 Tourer. If you haven’t already seen the facelifted Diesel Car & Eco Car magazine, then get yourself a copy now, because we’ve freshened the layout and design, and made it easier to read. There’s brand new features and items being added in every issue. That’s in addition to all your favourites, including Doctor Diesel, The Extra Mile, Marketplace and Legal i. And of course, we have the most up-to-date data section in the business. You really can’t miss it.
