In the past, if you wanted to carry nine occupants, you needed to look towards a minibus, but thanks to a tie-up between PSA Peugeot-CitroÎn and Toyota, a trio of new options are now available in the Peugeot Traveller, Toyota Proace Verso and the CitroÎn SpaceTourer, as tested here. All of them share the same mechanicals, including a choice of 1.6- or 2.0-litre diesel engines, and are produced in the same factory in Northern France, but each has frontal styling and equipment differences distinct to each of the three brands. Available in a choice of short, medium or long wheelbases, the latter versions arrive in showrooms early next year.

Quick of the mark, with strong mid-range pull. Hugely spacious. Pliant suspension. Durable, versatile cabin, with lots of cubby holes. Great access to rear seats. Super low loading sill. Apple CarPlay is standard.
Quite expensive. Vague steering. Rearward vision hindered by headrests. Heavy rear tailgate, and need lots of space to open it.
