SEAT took its time developing a medium-sized SUV, but weíre pleased that it did, as it has created one of the best in the class. Now the Spanish car maker is flexing its dynamic muscles with the launch of a sporting FR edition. Paired exclusively to four-wheel-drive and a duo of 2.0-litre TDI units developing either 148 or 188bhp, the former gets a manual transmission, while the more powerful version is mated to the latest seven-seat twin-clutch DSG automatic gearbox. FR versions are marked out by body-coloured wheel arch surrounds, unique bumpers, side skirts, a rear spoiler and aluminium roof rails and side mouldings, as well as rear privacy glass, Alcantara sports seats, a drive mode selector, LED headlights, a reversing camera, alloy pedals and multi-colour interior ambient lighting. Model-for-model, the enhancements cost just £1,170 compared to the SE Technology model, which is a bargain in our books.
