Saloon cars are a niche market in the UK to say the least, and small ones even more so. Thatís fine, because despite masquerading as a four-door, the SEAT Toledo is actually a hatchback. Itís identical to the Skoda Rapid under the skin, which means it shares the appearance of a small sedan and occupies a slightly curious middle ground between the Ibiza and the Leon. Tested here in Style trim, itís one shy of top-specification Style Advance and among other options, includes a £350 Titanium pack that adds snazzy 17-inch alloy wheels, along with matching door mirrors.

Huge boot, frugal engine, decent specification, Titanium pack adds sharp-looking features. Makes a great taxi.
Bland design lacks appeal. You can buy a larger Leon for similar money. Resale values aren’t wonderful.
