Every new Volvo now limited to 112mph

Every new Volvo car now comes with a limited top speed of 112mph, as Volvo Cars delivers on its promise made last year to introduce such a limitation. The company says the move goes beyond regulation and legislation to help close the remaining gap to zero serious injuries and fatalities in traffic. As well as the speed cap, every Volvo car will now also come with a Care Key, which allows Volvo drivers to set additional limitations on the car’s top speed, for example before lending their car to other family members or to younger and inexperienced drivers.

Mazda starts production of all-electric MX-30

On the 19th May 2020, Mazda began production of the all-new Mazda MX-30, the company’s first all-electric vehicle, at Ujina plant No. 1 in Hiroshima, Japan. The new MX-30 is equipped with e-Skyactiv – Mazda’s new electric drive technology. The front-wheel-drive powertrain combines a 107kW AC synchronous electric motor with a 35.5kWh lithium-ion battery, equipping the new SUV with a driving range of approximately 200km, or about 120 miles (WLTP combined).
