In the first part of our Diesel Car A-Z we naturally enough, look at the first three letters of the alphabet – A, B and C…
A is for Audi
In the Diesel Car world ‘A’ can only stand for one thing – Audi. The German company has led to some great advances in diesel technology thanks to its diesel endurance racers and their famous Le Mans victories. The company is a big believer in diesel with everything from the TT to the A8 offered with a diesel.
B is for Biodiesel
We all know that the Earth has a finite supply of oil and without an alternative our cars won’t be going anywhere. Thank heavens then, for biodiesel. Chrysler began the acceptance of biodiesel almost 10 years ago – confirming their Jeep CRD would run on up 5% biodiesel. Today, in 2014, the Chevrolet Cruze will run on a mix of up to 20%.
C is for Co2 emissions
As Kermit the Frog once sang “It’s not easy being green” but as car manufacturers continue the march to lower the carbon dioxide emissions of new cars it is getting a little easier. With many cars now beneath the 100g/km emission limit they’re not only kinder to the environment, but also kinder to our pockets thanks to free road tax.
