Let’s face it, taking the car in for a service is a pain in the backside, and that’s even before you’ve thought about how you are going to pay for it.
But Audi is helping to take some of the aggravation out of the task by offering a real-time online service booking system.
Rather than having to telephone the dealer, ask to be put through to the service department, only to be told that they’re busy and can they call you back, this system allows you to access available appointments online.
You can pick your day and time slot at your local dealer, and choose the type of maintenance you want done, all at the touch of a few buttons, and in a matter of minutes.
There’s the option for major or minor services, MOTs and tyre replacement, and you can even arrange a courtesy car, a collection and delivery service, or a lift home.
Audi drivers can visit the ‘Owners Area’ at www.audi.co.uk at anytime – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The system is easy to navigate around, and after inputting your postcode to find your nearest dealer, and choosing the kind of maintenance you require, you can choose the date and time that suits you.
One last page asks for your registration number and contact details before confirming the booking.
When we tried the system out for ourselves, we were offered a range of times, the earliest just 36 hours ahead, and it took around a minute of our time from start to finish – considerably less than it would take to pick up the phone.
John Bower, Head of Service and Parts Operations at Audi UK, welcomed the new initiative: “The convenience factor is crucial to the continued success of our Audi Centres, so I’m delighted that this new booking facility is going to genuinely save our customers time and effort.
“At the same time it’s also going to enable us to confirm arrangements and convey pricing estimates virtually instantly, and with greater clarity – I’m confident that use of this simple but highly effective tool will soon become second nature to many Audi owners.”
