Jeremy Smith, Citroën’s Head of Commercial Vehicles and Business Centre Operations, comments; “The Relay is a key model in our LCV range. By the application of innovative technology the new model will improve and build upon the operational advantages of its predecessor. These include class-leading payloads, as well as one of the largest, most practical load compartments in its class.”
Full details of the New Relay will be released at the CV Show. However, the range is expected to include all the major model configurations found in the current Relay range. As such there will be a wide choice of panel vans, chassis cabs, chassis crew cabs and back-to-back cabs. All will be offered in a variety of gross vehicle weights, with a range of low emission, fuel-efficient HDi diesels. In addition the New Relay range will include ready-bodied Specialist Models, such as dropside trucks, tippers and Luton vans – and a full range ofReady-to-Run conversions.
Shown alongside the New Relay will be a representative selection of Nemo, Berlingo and Dispatch models. Recently updated for 2014, Citroën UK’s best-selling LCV, the Berlingo, benefits from fuel economy improvements and emission reductions, as well as being refreshed with exterior changes, a new 6-speed Efficient Tronic Gearbox (ETG6) and improved in-cab storage. Berlingo Airdream vans with the ETG6 have optimised mapping to adjust power effectively for smoother start-ups/acceleration. Gear change speeds are modulated more precisely, based on driver input, for improved performance/comfort and its optimised gear shift pattern also improves efficiency.
The versatile, mid-size Citroën Dispatch is growing in popularity with UK operators with sales up by over 30% in 2013. The Dispatch enters 2014 with a new option pack. This includes a passenger front airbag, side airbags and a height-adjustable driver’s seat with armrest and lumbar support plus an individual front passenger seat with armrest. This new option will complement the driver and dual passenger seat offered as standard on all Dispatch models.
Citroën’s smallest LCV, the Nemo is one of the UK’s most economical vans – and this award-winning range offers one of the highest payloads and greatest load space volume in the compact city van sector. All Nemo vans have a 660kg payload and a large 2.5cu.m load compartment. This can be increased to 2.8cu.m thanks to the Nemo’s Extenso® folding/sliding passenger seat fitted as standard. As well as increasing the load volume by 0.3cu.m it lengthens the load deck length alongside the driver by 968mm to 2491mm. The Extenso® passenger seat back folds horizontally onto the seat cushion and the whole seat lowers so that the now horizontal seat back is level with the load compartment floor.
For greater efficiency, safety and reduced driver stress levels, all Berlingo, Dispatch and Relay panel vans are fitted, as standard, with Citroën’s unique Trafficmaster telematics platform. This includes Smartnav dynamic satellite navigation system and Trackstar stolen vehicle tracking.
