MINI went back to the drawing board for the latest Clubman, and the result is a much more practical Golf rival, which still retains nods to its heritage like its rear barn doors. Its refinement is top notch and the Clubman has the smoothest ride, so it’s just as at home on the motorway as it is at Oulton Park. Sharp steering still raises a smile and it shouldn’t fade come fill-up time, thanks to diesel engines which are as thrifty as they are punchy.
