Three-times British kitesurfing champion, Hannah Whiteley, has taken delivery of a new member of her back-up team – a Volkswagen California SE. The latest version of Volkswagen’s iconic camper van will provide Hannah with the perfect home-away-from-home as she trains and competes around the UK. The California’s unique layout and design means she will be able to carry all her equipment with ease, and stay at the beach to maximise her time on the water.
Hannah’s busy training schedule sees her travel over an hour each way to the nearest expanse of kiteable water of Lytham in Northwest England. TheCalifornia will provide an ideal base while she is at the beach.
Every aspect of the California SE has been designed to make outdoor living easy, with no compromise on comfort or convenience. Featuring a two-burner hob, a kitchen sink and 42-litre fridge, two full-sized double beds, two chairs and a table that folds away neatly into the tailgate, the California will provide the ideal resting place after a hard day’s surf.
The Volkswagen California’s impressive performance and fuel efficient 2.0-litre TDI engine will also help keep fuel bills to a minimum.
Hannah Whiteley, said: “I am over the moon with my new Volkswagen California. It will really help me with my training and getting to and from competitions. I have a great deal of kit to carry and the California allows me to do this in style. I’ve now got a mobile luxury base, which allows me to train for longer as well as stay over if I wish. I can’t wait for my first road trip away!”
The loan is part of Volkswagen’s ongoing sponsorship agreement with Whiteley, a role that has seen the three-times British Kitesurfing Champion become a valued ambassador for the vehicle manufacturer.
