Mazda’s lightweight, Mazda2 – voted World Car of the Year 2008 – has received an upgrade and will be given its European premiere in Paris, revealing new front styling featuring Mazda’s unique family face. There’s an upgraded interior, a Euro V compliant engine line-up and an upgraded chassis for even better ride comfort. An automatic gearbox is also introduced for the first time.
Joining the upgraded Mazda2 will be the all-new Mazda5 premiering with a new, more economical MZ-CD 1.6 diesel engine. The Mazda5 C-MAV people carrier is especially economic and family-friendly and offers a 113bhp, 1.6-litre diesel engine that delivers 15 per cent less CO2 emissions than the previous 2.0 diesel. It’s mated to a lightweight six-speed manual gearbox. The Mazda5 is an eye-catching design that sets it apart in the C-MAV segment, with enhanced Karakuri interior flexibility for up to seven people plus sliding rear doors.
Lastly, the new Mazda3 will be available with an upgraded MZ-CD 1.6-litre diesel engine, offering more power and torque, while lowering fuel consumption and emissions. It features 5bhp more power, 12 per cent more torque, and produces CO2 of 117g/km. Like the Mazda5, it is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
