Due to open to the general public on March 6th 2014, the 84th Geneva International Motor Show (www.salon-auto.ch) will be the stage Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) has elected to give European customers a glimpse of its future plans.
With a clear emphasis on design, driving performance and low environmental impact, MMC will display its three latest concept cars – an ‘augmented reality” interpretation of things to come short to mid-term:
- Concept XR-PHEV: A next-generation coupé-like compact plug-in hybrid electric crossover using a front-wheel drive layout PHEV system including a 1.1-litre direct-injection turbocharged MIVEC petrol engine, a lightweight, compact and high-efficiency motor and a high-capacity battery.
- Concept GC-PHEV: A next-generation full-size plug-in hybrid electric SUV with full-time 4WD. Its front engine, rear-wheel drive PHEV architecture includes a 3.0-litre V6 supercharged MIVEC petrol engine mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, a high-output motor and a high-capacity battery to deliver all-terrain performance truly worthy of an all-round SUV.
- Concept AR: A next-generation compact MPV which combines SUV sportiness with MPV roominess. It uses a lightweight mild hybrid Belt-driven Starter and Generator system (BSG) featuring a 1.1-litre 3-cylinder direct-injection turbocharged MIVEC engine mated to a low output BSG torque circuit with a 48V lithium-ion battery and an DC-DC converter.
Outlander PHEV – the start of the next 40 years
Perfectly timed to celebrate Mitsubishi Motors’ forty years of official presence in Europe and bridge the gap with these innovative future products, Outlander PHEV will also celebrate its initial success in Europe (15,000+ orders, as of Feb. 1st) whether in production form or in racing gear, straight from the gruelling 2,000 km 2013 Asia Cross Country Rally (http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com/special/motorsports/asia_cross.html)
