Plans for a financial tie-up by PSA Peugeot-Citroën and Mitsubishi are on hold. Senior management from both companies met at Geneva last week, but plans have been put on ice. The two companies will continue to share platforms and engines.
The French giant is keen to become a global player and saw Mitsubishi as the ideal partner to aid its plans to compete on a larger scale outside of Europe.
This past year, there have been fruits from the union, with the electrically powered Mitsubishi i-MiEV being rebadged as the Citroën C-Zero and Peugeot i0n. Mitsubishi’s Outlander off-roader is also sold in Europe as the Citroen C-Crosser and Peugeot 4007.
