The Foresters will be driven by three stars of the London 2012 Olympic Games – Etienne Stott and Tim Baillie claimed Britain’s first-ever canoe slalom gold medal, while Ed McKeever claimed gold in the 200m men’s single kayak canoe sprint event. Heather Williams, GB Canoeing Talent Pathway Manager and former elite triathlete, will also use the cars to help buoy the team.
The GB Canoeing flotilla of Foresters will be used to transport specialist equipment to and from training sessions and races, both in the UK and further afield. Heather Williams said: “I’m delighted with the Subaru Forester – it’s a great vehicle, very comfortable to drive and perfect for driving across the UK.” The Forester was chosen for its reputation for reliability, rugged ‘go-anywhere’ capabilities and high level of practicality.
Paul Tunnicliffe, Subaru UK managing director, commented: “The Forester will really be put to the test by the team over the coming months, but we’re confident that it will prove a great match for its demands. The Forester has been widely praised for its off-road abilities, on-road comfort and all-round ease-of-use, and GB Canoeing aren’t the first – nor will they be the last – to enjoy using a Subaru in the Great Outdoors.”
The Subaru Forester, now available from dealers across the UK, costs from £24,995 (on-the-road). To find out more about the Subaru Forester and the rest of the Subaru model range, visit www.subaru.co.uk.
