Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons have cut the price of diesel fuel by 2p per litre. It’s the third time that this has happened in the past month, with average diesel fuel prices droping from 120.9p per litre last month to an average of 113.9 per litre today.
Looking further back, the cost of a litre of diesel was around 137.9 per litre this time last year, which means that filling up the average family car – with a 50-litre tank – now costs approximately £12 less than a year ago.
The recent cuts put diesel fuel a couple of pence cheaper than petrol, the first time that this has happened in more than 15 years.
