Following on from the previous generation Insignia, which won the European Car of the Year in 2009, and sold over 25,000 in the UK last year, the Insignia is based on a completely new vehicle architecture. Its revised proportions result in a more spacious interior, intended to give the car a more athletic appearance and an improved road stance.
There are new technologies designed to make driving the Insignia safer, more relaxing and more comfortable than before. Next-generation IntelliLux LED matrix lighting, Lane Keep Assist, Head-up Display and unique AGR-certified premium seats, front- and rear-seat heating and a heated wind screen are some examples.
Infotainment and connectivity are also on board thanks to the latest generation IntelliLink systems and Vauxhall OnStar, which with the launch of the Insignia Grand Sport, will offer even more functionality for customers. New OnStar features allow occupants to book hotel rooms and search for suitable parking spots via an OnStar Advisor.
At 4.21 metres in length, the Crossland X is more compact than the Mokka X, and a full 16cm shorter than the Astra Hatch, offering owners greater convenience while manoeuvring in towns and cities. The Crossland X also has an elevated seating position and an overall height, which is raised ten centimetres above the Astra’s. The Crossland X also has specially designed AGR-certified seats for the driver and front passenger, while rear passengers can adjust their seating position to increase leg room.
There’s also a 180-degree panoramic rear-view camera, advanced park assist, forward collision alert with pedestrian detection and autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, speed sign recognition and side blind-spot alert.
Vauxhall says it will have five major product launches in 2017 that will add further variety to its range while at the same time entering new market segments.
As well as the introduction of range-building derivatives, Vauxhall says it will bolster its credentials by offering a compelling alternative to ‘premium’ models in the D-sector with the all new Insignia Grand Sport, Sports Tourer and Country Tourer, while also increasing volume still further in the SUV/crossover class with the Crossland X and the Grandland X.
