Plant Oxford is celebrating a production milestone of 11,000 MINI Electrics having rolled off the production line, with more than 3,000 orders placed in the UK. Next year, the British Icon is gearing up to produce one third of all MINI Hatch three-door models with the pure electric drivetrain, and these will nestle alongside the petrol editions that are made on the same line. All of these announcements are quite timely as it coincides with us getting our hands on the car for the first time, in Level 2 specification.

Fun to drive. Perky performance. Looks smart. Roomy up front. Built in Britain.
Why no 5-door Electric MINI? Small Apple CarPlay display. Climate controls and toggle switches mounted too low. Small boot, and limited rear space.
