Ford’s new heavyweight: the 5.0-tonne Transit

Ford has announced the introduction of a new 5.0-tonne Transit derivative, offering customers a van or chassis cab rated to 5,000kg GVM (gross vehicle mass). The new models will be available at Ford dealers from late November.

Ford launches ‘go anywhere’ Transits and Tourneos

Ford has announced new “rough-road-capable” Trail and Active variants for the Transit and Tourneo ranges, available to order now for delivery in late summer. The new Transit Trail and Transit Custom Trail models have been designed specifically to operate in tougher working environments, with the enhanced traction of a new mechanical limited-slip differential (mLSD) on front-wheel drive Transit and Transit Custom variants, and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive on the Transit.

Ford Transit gets ten-speed Mustang auto ‘box

Ford has started production of a new 10-speed automatic gearbox option for rear-wheel drive (RWD) Transit models. The new transmission is aimed at applications where automatics are preferred for their ease-of-use and convenience, such as higher weight conversions including grocery delivery vans, emergency response vehicles and motorhomes, as well as Ford’s factory-built 15-seat and 18-seat Transit minibuses.
