Based on the brand-new Alliance modular platform, CMF-B, the new Clio benefits from an optimised body structure, revised seat structures and seat-belt fasteners designed to provide optimal support for all occupants, no matter the occupants size or position in the car, with pyrotechnic pre-tensions and load limiters. Renault supports the Fix4sure technology for occupant restraint. In addition, it is possible to install a wide variety of child seats, both front and rear, on isofix and with the I-size system, and there is enhanced head protection for the rear passengers in case of side impact.
Standard safety features include:
Six airbags, ABS with emergency brake assistance, a camera and radar (lane assist, traffic sign recognition with speed limit alert, distance warning, emergency braking), cruise control/speed limiter, seat belt unlock alert for the front and rear seats and emergency call. In addition, vision is optimised with standard 100 per-cent LED front headlamps.
Thanks to Clio’s new electronic architecture, it was possible to introduce an active emergency brake system with recognition of pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles, which secured a pedestrian/cyclist AEB rating (11/12) by Euro NCAP. The new Clio will also feature advanced driving aids with the Highway and Traffic Jam Companion, the first step towards autonomous driving.
